Our story
In 2020, my husband and I followed our hearts in a leap of faith by buying a 4 acre property with a little fixer upper and moved out to the country with our 2 daughters. Since the beginning of this journey, we have had a vision for the land that is constantly evolving and we have been building it from scratch ever since. One of the visions for the land has always been the garden. I knew that I wanted to grow fresh, organic food for my family, but I also had a dream of growing beautiful cut flowers to fill my house with bouquets all season long and share with family and friends. Growing fresh produce was very rewarding, but the flowers were like food for my soul! During my first growing season, I was bringing flowers to everyone I knew for any reason, or no reason at all. Seeing the joy it brought to my neighbors, friends, and family was completely addicting! Very quickly, growing cut flowers became a passion for floral design, and Sunrise Hill Flowers was born!
Meet the Florist
My name is Lindsey Doran, and I am the owner of Sunrise Hill Flowers and creator of all things floral. I am inspired by nature and art! To me, flowers are the perfect blend of nature & art. I am in awe of the beauty in the colors, shapes, and textures that grow in the garden. Flowers have inspired me to get my hands dirty, use my creativity, and share the joy I get from them with others. I enjoy going out into the field or flower market to pick from a canvas of colors and textures that inspire me to thoughtfully create an arrangement that will bring joy to someone else. Through Floral design, I discovered that my years of education in Fine Arts & Design equipped me with all the fundamentals that I use to create the perfect style and color pallet, using flowers as my medium. I’m so grateful to have found a career that allows me to use my artistic creativity and passion for design to continue to grow as an artist. What makes it even more rewarding is when that creativity inspires, brings joy, comfort, or beauty to someone else. I’m so excited for where this journey has brought me, and I am so incredibly grateful for each person in my life that has supported and encouraged me along the way!
Design with Intention
Flowers really do have the power to transport you to a time and place and bring beautiful, vibrant energy into any space. I take all of this into account in the way that I care for the flowers from start to finish. Absolutely nothing can compare to the intoxicating fragrance of fresh, organically grown, cut flowers! During peak growing season, almost all of the flowers I use in my designs are directly from local farms or my own cut flower garden. This ensures the freshest blooms and longest vase life for my designs. Part of my mission as a florist is to practice sustainability using seasonal flowers, support values-aligned farmers, and raise awareness about how to ethically source local and American grown flowers. For weddings and events, or pop-ups outside of our growing season, I hand select each bloom from the largest collection of fresh flowers in their prime from our local wholesale market. Along with educating my clients about seasonality and availability, this ensures that they always get exactly what they envision for their event. Flowers are my love language, and I am inspired by the joy they bring to others!
